II Corinthians 2:14 (ESV) – “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.”

I absolutely love this passage. My wife and I found it incredibly encouraging as we were entering the foreign mission field several years ago. What a joy to know that we are always in a wonderful parade spreading the knowledge, the fragrance, of Christ everywhere!

Chef Robert Kuser

Chef Robert Kuser

Many of you have asked about Robert Kuser, LeTourneau’s chef for the past six years. Robert has been recovering from surgery these past few weeks. We thank the Lord his recovery is going very well, but unfortunately he won’t be unable to return to work until April 21st, and once he does, he will still be on doctor’s restrictions from lifting or carrying (That’s quite the challenge when cooking in an industrial kitchen.) His absence has been keenly felt and has, of late, required others of us on the staff to set aside our regular duties in order to fill the need in the kitchen, so we are seeking volunteers to help while he recovers. At this time of year, our groups primarily attend on weekends, and meal prep is needed starting mid-day Fridays. If you are gifted in the area of food service, particularly in preparing meals at large scale for buffet-style serving, please contact me at the office at director@letourneau.org or by calling (585) 554-3400.

Meanwhile, we are praying for and seeking a new volunteer coordinator to help recruit and place volunteers in critical service areas across the grounds, to support guest needs for weekend groups year-round and also during the busy summer months. We wish to send a massive “Thank You and God Bless!” to Cindy Meyer, who has faithfully volunteered in this position the last two years, but will be moving to Texas with her family soon. As our busiest times approach, and we are already without key full-time staff, our need for volunteers grows, as does our need for a gifted volunteer coordinator. If you have a desire to serve alongside other believers here at LeTCC and have a gift for organization, coordinating multiple schedules, pairing others’ skill sets with open positions and so on, please call the office at (585) 554-3400. This position will require a few hours each week, but will be a tremendous blessing to this ministry.

As we look toward this summer, we are very excited about the summer staff the Lord has sent to serve alongside us. Most of our staff are teens returning from previous years, while others are first-time summer staff members. As of this posting, we are praising God that we have already filled our teen staff positions (with the possible exception of our lifeguard positions). We can’t wait to see these young people come, grow in their relationship with the Lord and be discipled in Christian ministry. This year, we are also seeking to add a couple of young adults who are interested in fulfilling internships for their college education program or those who have a passion to serve in Christian ministry. All of our youth and college-age staff are able to receive a stipend for their service. Please pray for the Avis and Gerri Summer Staff Fund, which covers these modest stipends. This year’s goal for that fund is approximately $18,000.

There are other opportunities for adults to serve this summer as well! We need to fill several positions for: nurses or EMT personnel (certified to dispense medication) to provide care for our summer kids camps, housekeepers to manage the laundry in our primary guest housing buildings, and boat drivers licensed as a Public Vessel Operator (PVO) to drive our motorboats on paid guest outings. All of these positions may be paid or voluntary.  A limited number of part-time, paid positions are also available for those who are lake-certified lifeguards &/or Water Safety Instructors (WSI).

JamieFischerVertWSign1KVpxOne other opportunity is available! Would you like to be an ambassador? The very best way to grow this ministry is by word of mouth. We need all of our LeTCC “family” to tell their friends, church leaders, and Christian-affiliated agencies about this ministry. Some easy ways to do this are to share our website with your friends, to “Like us” on Facebook, and to ask your church leaders to host an event at LeTourneau or meet with our staff to introduce LeTourneau and see how we might partner together in ministry.

We are thankful to the Lord for your interest and partnership in this ministry! We pray the Lord would encourage you and keep you spreading the fragrance of His name wherever He may lead you!

Blessings in Our Wonderful Savior,
Jamie Fischer, director
