Dear friends of LeTourneau,
Two simple words changed the world: “Follow me.” Jesus spoke these words to His first disciples, calling them into a journey that would transform their lives and, in turn, lead countless others to follow Him. To be a disciple of Christ is to follow Him, to be continually transformed into His image, and to make more disciples.
Few have exemplified this calling as faithfully as Avis Sowl and Gerri Moose, who devoted over 60 years of service to LeTourneau before going home to worship their King in eternity. They understood that life was not just about the present but about eternity. That same eternal perspective shapes our mission as we enter Summer 2025.
Throughout eight weeks of service, students in THE WAY program pour into others—serving guests in our dining hall and housekeeping staff, teaching young children the Gospel, and maintaining LeTourneau’s beautiful campus. Beyond their service, they deepen their faith through weekly Bible studies, prayer meetings, and devotions, growing as passionate disciples of Christ.
To participate, each student is asked to raise support which goes to provide a stipend, weekly activities, room and board, training, and more. However, we recognize that fundraising can be challenging, which is why the Avis and Gerri Fund ensures that every student, regardless of what they raise, has the opportunity to minister with us. This fund carries on the legacy of Avis and Gerri, impacting lives for eternity.
Our goal this year is to raise $15,000. We ask you to prayerfully consider supporting these young disciples through the Avis and Gerri Fund.
For His Glory,
Derek Ballard
