5 Ways to Get Camp Scholarships

Hey folks,

My name is Cameron Ryan, I am the Summer Camp Operations Administrator at LeTourneau Christian Center. We love to have as many children attend our camps as possible! We understand that finances are often a concern of families and we want to help ease any financial concerns as much as possible.

At LeTourneau, we are blessed to offer camp scholarships through the Duncan Rioch Memorial Children’s Scholarship Fund. This is a donation-based fund that goes to support families with expressed financial need, to help them join us for our summer camps. If you would like to make a donation, head over to our giving page.

Understanding that our scholarship fund is based on donated support, we wanted to list five other ways you can obtain scholarships and funding for our camp programs so that we can help as many families join us for camp as possible.

1. Local Churches

Many churches understand the value of summer camp ministry and are willing to support families in attending summer camps. If your local church doesn’t have funding set aside for a scholarship, they may be willing to help raise support with your congregation. We have been blessed to see several churches sponsor many children in part or in whole for their time at camp. We encourage you to contact your church leadership and see if they can assist you.

2. Civic Organizations and Clubs

Similar to your local church, many civic organizations like the Lion’s Club, Rotary Clubs or Kiwanis, all greatly enjoy supporting youth development programs in the community. If you happen to be a member of these organizations, or other more local organizations like a child-care facility, youth recreation center, or parent facebook group, contact the organization’s leadership and see if they are able to support you or donate on your behalf.

3. Government Based Aid

There are many government based programs to assist families seeking to enroll in summer camps. Residents of Ontario County can talk with their physician, a school counselor, or nurse and ask to be referred for the Ontario Children’s Foundation Scholarship Grant (https://www.ontchildfound.org/special-projects) which offers support for summer camp programs. Residents of Yates County are encouraged to contact the Yates Youth Bureau (https://www.yatescountyny.gov/267/Youth-Bureau) for more information. If you reside outside of the counties mentioned above, contact your county social services office and see if there are any scholarship programs available for you.

4. Local Schools

Many schools offer scholarship programs for students seeking to go to summer camps, especially private or independent schools. Contact your school’s counseling office to see what programs your school offers, or resources they may recommend.

5. Workplace Giving Programs

Ask your employer about matching gifts or employee assistance programs! Many companies match donations to nonprofit organizations like ours, doubling your contribution. Contact your employer to see if they offer matching gifts or grants for summer programs. If your employer needs any information from us, have them contact our office at office@letcc.org or call (585) 554-3400.

We would love to see you and your family join us for our summer camps. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact our office at office@letcc.org or call (585) 554-3400. We hope and pray that we can make camp a reality for you. See you this summer!

God bless you,

Cameron Ryan
